One of the greatest and most underrated singers of her time, June Christy is best known for her work in the cool Jazz genre. Christy first rose to prominence with the Stan Kenton Orchestra in 1945, then began to pursue a solo career starting in 1947. In 1954 Christy released a 10" LP entitled "Something Cool" which became instrumental in launching the cool vocal movement of the 1950 s. Presented here is a fitting tribute to Ms. Christy featuring Les Brown & His Band of Renown performing songs associated with Christy. June Christy herself appears on three tracks, "I'll Remember April," "I'll Take Romance" and "September Song." Les Brown's vocalist Jo Ann Greer appears on the other vocal selections. All selections newly re-mastered.
