This unique classic album, recorded in Havana in 1956, reflects the popularity in the mid-fifties of what was coined "cocktail music". The title was appropriated by hipsters to represent the cool, jazzy, crooning music of the 1950's cocktail lounge. The sound of cool jazz and tinkling ice cubes in cocktail glasses brings to mind the vibe of the day. In America this style was associated with artists such as Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and the like, and was also linked to what would become "space age bachelor pad music" and other forms of exotica. This compilation was Cuba's answer to the popular trend and features some of the biggest stars of 1950's Havana including Doris de la Torre, Roland Gerbeau, Sergio Fiallo, Ana Margarita and Hector Quintero in a "cocktail" setting.
